…so has anyone installed it yet? Anything to report?

    I’m still using CS3

    Hi Ben,

I just upgrade to 10.5.6 and for one, my printing issue is salved.
I had to set the paper-size to “defined by driver” in the printing screen, to get the HP printer print right page proportions. If set to A4 the printer would scale the print up to 200% of the original A4 size.

i didn’t noticed any strange things (jet).. so fingers crossed.

Running ID 5.0.4 on MAC 10.5.6.

I had trouble with this since upgrading to 10.5.5: InDesign would just crash the moment I hit Cmd-P. (It worked fine the week before the upgrade, and I had ID 5.0.4.) I tried reinstalling printers, reinstalling CS3…and the universe keeps on hating me.

With this Leopard update…it STILL does. So, I’m looking at reinstalling the entire thing. Not fun, not happy times.

It’s so frustrating… I’m not at all keen to upgrade to an operating system until I can be sure (within the bounds of all reason) that it’s not going to mess up my workflow…

…so I’m still at 10.5.4 on my desktop until I can be sure that Adobe and Apple have sorted out their differences.

    Cheers

    Ben

    CAUTION!!!!
I received an email from Extensis saying that if you use Suitcase…old or brand new…don’t do the 10.5.6 update. There have been issues reported.

I spent yesterday afternoon and all of today trying to fix my mac pro after updating the OS. The first symptom of something really wrong…Suitcase would not open.

Hope this saves someone else some time!

    @Mia

you might have a look at Adobe’s forums… there was a suggestion that someone had found a workaround fix for the 10.5.5 print issue, but I haven’t tried it

    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.59b680a1

alternately the only other suggestion going round is to revert to 10.5.4 until hell freezes over someone sorts it out…

I never installed 10.5.5, so I have (thankfully) missed out on printer issues raised here and elsewhere.

However – and completely OT – I did install 10.5.6 yesterday and initial testing seems to confirm that the ID cmd+h issue may have been resolved. I don’t have to start>quit>start ID anymore for the command to work and I have had (so far) no hiding/disappearing issues, either – anyone care to confirm? I do hope I’m not being too optimistic.

The suitcase thing is down to it being Suitcase IMHO.

It’s never been that good – even since version 8, ten years ago and it’s always been buggy. I stopped using it as soon as an alternative came out for OS X (I now use – depending on the job – Linotype Font Explorer or Indesign’s fonts folder, which even works with PC fonts).

I was warned off using 10.5.6 yesterday, but thought what the hell… we’ll see!

This issue was a big one for me, I’d recommend anyone doing it to correct the printing issues in CS3 use the combo update download.

I did and I must say I’m now much happier.

just started using InDesign 3.0.1 (Creative Suites) after using PageMaker for years. I haven’t found out how to make a book in InDesign; it was so easy in PageMaker – just used the plugin “build booklet” and it automatically created a book spread from the individual pages.

If anyone knows how to create a book in InDesign, I’d appreciate hearing about it. I used the “new book” function in the menu, but can’t figure out how it works.

    Well.

Turns out that the solution to my printing issue–where any Adobe app crashes the moment I press Cmd-P–is to reset the printing system, apply this patch, and the world is right again.

Short of being utterly dumb-founded and confused trying to follow complex workarounds, this was the easiest solution, and so far, one that works well…until the next time there’s an update and something breaks. ^_^

    Thanks for the help.

Ive just installed 10.5.6 and all CS3 printing issues seem to be resolved. I was one of the unlucky one who installed 10.5.5 and had the printing nightmares…thanks to Time Machine all was resolved. I’ve been dreading updating for fear of happening again..but all seems fine…Suitcase (fusion – 12.1.7) works fine too

I just bought a Laserjet P1006 and installed the latest driver from HP on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.7. And I have exactly the same problem ;( – The image is scaled horizontally.

I don’t see any “defined by driver” option.
