Thanks for another great podcast. All those Obscure features in one episode. I have to admit, I was a little frazzled by the questions on hearing them, but in the back of my mind I knew them, I don’t know how I would have done under the pressure of knowing that thousands of people would hear my answers all over the world, I fear the pressure would have gotten to me.

Yeh yeh, a video would be nice, but I get by each podcast by just hearing your lovely voices. (I have your pics on my desktop anyway as my wallpaper (joking)).

I didn’t get a chance to get to Miami this time around, but hopefully I can attend one of your seminars one day! Really enjoyed the podcast.

Thanks a million for the time and effort.

    Was that longest Podcast yet?

Umm. I wasn’t too fond of his “live” format, I must admit. I skipped around a bit, but I couldn’t listen with the level of attention I do for your normal studio recordings. So please stay studio-bound hereafter.

I can’t understand why people moan about something that is being given for nothing, and moan about not getting more for nothing. The mind boggles.

Eugene, that the podcasts on this site are given us “for nothing” doesn’t mean we listeners are obliged to passively accept whatever the hosts choose to produce — and remain silent about things we dislike. I believe it’s *valuable* to David & Anne-Marie (and to *anyone* who produces *anything*) to get frank feedback — to hear what “works” for their audience/customers. In this case, the “live” format didn’t work for me. If I didn’t tell them this, and they kept on producing live podcasts, I would probably eventually stop listening to their shows — and they might be bleeding more listeners than me, without ever knowing why. Unless someone explicitly tells a producer of Product X what they like and dislike about the Product X, the producers are flying blind. Feedback is always, always, ALWAYS a Good Thing — whether its complimentary or critical. That’s my position — and I don’t believe that giving constructive, critical feedback about anything is properly described as “moaning.”

While I can appreciate Eugene’s point, I totally agree with you, Klaus. We love getting real feedback — positive or negative. People can also feel free to email us at info at indesignsecrets.com with their comments, if they don’t want to post them publicly.

We will likely still do live presentations once or twice a year, just because they’re fun. But perhaps we should just edit them down even further. Hm.

Thanks, David! I knew you would agree with me. I’m right, after all, so if you had disagreed with me you’d be clearly wrong — which is clearly wrong. ;-)

Why stay studio-bound, Klaus? Apart from your inability to stay focussed, why? How is that feedback anyway?

I certainly have never had a chance ever to attend a live seminar and for me it was great to hear the stories, explanations, questions etc. in a live manner rather than in a scripted one.

Why not give the listeners of scripted podcasts a chance to hear the hosts at a live seminar? Why should other listeners be forced (not literally) to listen to scripted studio recordings because you “skipped around a bit”. Whatever that meant?

If anything, I would like to hear more live podcasts throughout the year, along with the normal studio versions.

    hey

    I LOVE the audio podcast!

    but
i’m a visual guy and just… for a second at least… i miss a picture of the lucky folks there. Just an ideia not moaning/crying/screaming.

    ;)

I love the idea of having a picture. Too bad we didn’t have a camera on stage!

Eugene, your point is well-taken: it is fun to do something live and fun on occasion. I believe we got some video of our presentation (what was on screen, not us). I’ll try to get some uploaded.

Great, I can’t wait to see the video too. The more options us listeners/viewers have the better.

First of all thank you for the hard work you put into this.
I also found it difficult to follow along, when comparing it to what we are used to. I had to pause and rewind to hear and understand parts. A visual would have been great.
I agree that it is nice to get something from an event I would have no way of attending. I found a YouTube video called InDesign Conference Miami, Keynote Part 1 & 2. I felt like I was stealing something, but I have to admit I watched anyway.

I was away in England when this was posted so I’ve only just gotten around to listening.

The most common reason I have for using the Unassigned Content feature is to undo an accidental conversion of such a frame to a text frame. Granted there’s a preference now that cuts down on the likelihood of this happening, but I tend to not activate that — who knows why not?
