Creative Suite 6 and Creative Cloud Launch Event Set for April 23

7

We’ve known for quite some time that CS6 would be coming in the second quarter of 2012 but now we know the date.

Adobe will be holding a special launch event on Monday, April 23 at 10:00 AM PDT. If this is anything like past events there will be demos of the various products and a look at the new features. Adding to the excitement is the fact that details on Creative Cloud will finally be announced.

More details can be found on this page on Adobe’s website.

Additional info:

The CS6/Creative Cloud “launch event” in San Francisco will be streamed live over the web here: https://www.adobe.com/special/cs6/launch-event.html. If you miss it, Adobe says it’ll be continuously rebroadcast at the same URL from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. that day (Monday, April 23), and should be available on Adobe TV starting April 24.

I’m hoping once again that InDesign will support endnotes, but I’m not holding my breath.

I cannot wait to see what new features Indesign has and of course the other programs.
    Counting down….

I just hope that Adobe can do volume floating network licences like Autodesk do with AutoCAD, Maya and 3D Studio Max.

We are in a situation in our office where we a running CS4 even though we have licences of CS5 because otherwise we’ll be messing around doing interchange files for users on various versions of the software. We can’t buy CS4 to keep everyone on the same version and upgrading everyone is quite a lay out in the current economy.

We don’t have any of these problems with Autodesk software and have floating licences available for whoever needs them, we also get updated on our maintenance agreement.

I hope Adobe take a leaf out of Autodesks book and do something similar!

Aside from the rant above I’m looking forward to see what CS6 can do. :)

A much larger range of Text variables would be great!

Box Height, Width, ICC Profile, Custom Fields etc, would be very handy.

The ability to save back 2 versions would be handy too, then I could dump older versions on my system!

When importing a PSD, Tiff etc, the ability to run smart filters in InDesign would save time too.

And, how about being able to control/right click on an image that is RGB and convert to CMYK in document?

A text analyser would be handy, so I import a text file Word, RTF etc, the text is analysed and I can make style sheets as I import. InDesign shows me a headline say, then I can make that Style 1, it then jumps to the next change of text, and I can make that Style 2, etc – Oh and I can edit on the fly and it applies the style to all text that is similar on the spot!

These would be very nice :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for a really great graphing feature in Indesign . . . or is that like asking Santa for a BMW?

  • Just added a couple URLs to the post.

    @glen

I think it is safe to say that future versions of InDesign will be able to save back to CS4. When InDesign switched to IDML it made downsaving much much easier. If you have a CS5.5 document, it can’t be natively opened in CS5 or CS4. However, if you export it to IDML CS4 and above can open it. CS6, CS7 etc will hopefully continue this model for the foreseeable future.

There is a workaround to make charts and graphs directly in InDesign today. https://creativepro.com/creating-instant-charts-with-chartwell.php
