eSeminar on What’s New in InDesign CS4

We’ve gotten so many questions about CS4 that we’ve decided to present a one-hour eSeminar called “The InDesignSecrets Guide to Adobe InDesign CS4.” This will be presented by both of us (David Blatner and Anne-Marie Concepción) on October 29 at 10 am Pacific Time (that’s 1 pm Eastern time in the US or 6:00 pm in London).

But here’s the fun part: We’re going to record it and you can watch it anytime you want, up to a week afterward. If you can make it to the live event, then great! If you cannot make it at that time, you can still participate by logging in whenever is easy for you.

In fact, even if you can’t participate in the live event, you can still ask questions up to a week afterward, and we’ll respond via email!

Once again, this is an eSeminar, so you can be anywhere you want in the world and just watch and listen with your Web browser. We’ll cover:

  • Our favorite new features
  • “Gotcha’s” you should watch out for
  • Some cool (but less obvious) features
  • Why you might (or might not) want to upgrade
  • Your questions and answers at the end!

Even better, by being an InDesignSecrets reader/listener, you can get $10 off the price of the eSeminar by using this discount code: IDS11 (that’s “eye-dee-ess-eleven” in case the ones and the “L”s look too similar). If you sign up before October 23, you’ll get another $10 off!

Sorry to drop into “marketing speak” there for a bit, but I guess that’s what I’m doing here… marketing the event. Oh well. ;) Now we’ll go back to our regular blog posts.

I hope you can join us for this fun-filled romp through CS4! Sign up today! (Oops… marketing speak again…)

$40 to get an early look at what’ll be shown in videos Adobe supplies for free?
*wanders off thinking about the ‘good old days’ when everything on the ‘net was free*

Heh … I like free stuff too. Note, for example, the free tips, plug-ins, podcasts, and scripts on InDesignSecrets.com.

Seriously, though, while I understand the sentiment, I can confidently say that our live eSeminar will be quite more unbiased, real-world, and in-depth than whatever free videos Adobe decides to supply.

I’m really excited about doing a dual eSeminar! It’ll be neat to trade screen shares, argue online, try to top each other’s tips, etc. Kinda like the podcast!

Thanks for all the free stuff you do supply to us on an almost daily basis. I don’t know where I’d be without InDeesignSecrets. It’s a great resource and more than that it’s fun.

This sounds fantastic, and besides it’s a live seminar, not a video where you can’t stop the presenter and ask questions, you just have to take a video at face value. I love the interactivity of an e-seminar and seen as I don’t particularly need a subscription to some websites, as I’m one of these guys that likes to learn by pressing all the buttons and seeing what it does, it will still be neat to see the new features, if they apply to my work and to ask questions about the software.

Given that the last e-seminar was a triumph then I shall give it another go. I’ll try to scrape together the few dollars it costs, I don’t know if I can afford ALL those dollars, I guess I can forego my rent money for the month.

Given the lack of events on this side of the pond in Ireland, then I’ll take whatever I can get when I can get it and InDesign Secrets is my all time favourite most reliable source for information regarding InDesign. It’s straightforward no non-sense whimiscal hosts and hostessess make it a marvelous place to be.

How long will the e-seminar be? Or is it a webinar? Or a veminar?

I can respect the need to cover costs, and even make a few extra bones. But $40? Seriously?

Yes, Jim, seriously. I’m sorry if that sounds glib, but… I mean come on folks, it costs us money to present seminars (bandwidth, etc.), plus the time and so on. We love sharing information with everyone, but we can’t always do it all for free.

We know your time is valuable, and we think ours is, too. We’d love for you to attend, but only if you think getting this information and hearing what we have to say will be a value to you.

    Hope to see you there!

    Hi,
wonderful that you are holding this event. Question can I watch this eSeminar more that once, during the week?

    thanks for all the help
    George

@George: Yes, you can definitely watch it more than once!

It’s true that $40 isn’t a lot if you walk away having learned something new, but seeing how I can’t open up the software and try the cool new things out for myself I won’t actually learn anything from it. The only way I can actually learn something and have it stick is by doing it myself. But I’m sure there are a lot of folks who don’t have that problem and will immensely enjoy the webcast.

@Roland: Good point, though it won’t be long until CS4 is out, I think. But don’t worry, we will also be doing some seminars that are relevant for CS2 and CS3 users soon.

Hey, I think it’s great that David and Anne-Marie are doing this.

And I believe that you will be able to have coffee and pastries during the event.

Hey David, we should come up with a Quizzler just for the eSeminar people, with a prize and everything. It could be an eQuizzler … ;-) We could pick a winner during the Q&A at the end …

Anne-Marie, aren’t all your Quizzlers eQuizzlers since they’re done on the web? Maybe a contest on who can come up with the coolest name, and give the winner free access to one webinar of choice ;)
Oh wait, no … not a good idea, I’m horrible at making up names.

The way I see it, the listeners are in the hole for the past years of great tips, news, and everything else from Dave & Anne-Marie.

Also, I’ve been wading through the free Adobe stuff. Some is good, some is very bad.

Where in the world is being broadcast from? As the clocks went back here, so if it is Pacific Time then 10:00 am would normally be +8 hours for GMT, as we’re in DST than it won’t be 18:00, it will be 17:00 GMT.

I’m nearly sure that is right? Can anyone confirm?

The eSeminar will be presented live at 10am pacific time in the USA. If you cannot make it to the live event, then it will be available up to one week later (we’ll send out a special URL for the recorded version to people who registered).
