I have a 42 page single sided book that I am trying to export to PDF. When I export, the page numbers on pages 2 and 3 are moved from the bottom of the page up to about the middle of the page. Just those two pages. It's the weirdest thing. I've tried creating outlines of the page numbers and the text. That didn't move the page numbers but it did move a horizontal divider rule on page 3. Then I locked the divider rule (which is on the master page). That kept the rule in place and the page number on 2, but page 3 was moved up and over to the right.
I'm at a loss right now. I did have a thought to just export to JPG to see what happens. I haven't tried exporting to IDML or printing to a PDF rather than exporting. I'll try those as well.
I thought I'd see if anyone had experienced anything like this.
Thanks Eugene, I am fully up to date with InDesign. I tried the IDML and got the same result. I don't usually print to PDF, I know the problems you speak of. I was at my wits end yesterday and was getting close to desperate.
Fortunately, it was the end of the day and I had a chance to get away from the problem for a while. A thought occurred to me while getting ready for work this morning.
I remembered I had my cover file on page 1 so I had set a new section at page 2. I removed the new section and moved my cover to the end of the document so the pages would number the way I wanted. Exported to PDF and voila! Perfect.
