I am creating my first interactive pdf using Indesign CS5. The document is to be predominantly viewed on screen but needs to be printable. I have made use of roll-overs to display information and images, in lieu of the SWF multi-state function, but have encountered a problem with printing, in that all the layered information, which is hidden until required, prints out. Is there anyway to get around this?

You may correct me if I'm wrong, but apart from "hidden", isn't there also an attribute "printing" for objects?

Mm. I see where you are coming from. To explain my layout a little further, I have created a tabulated system of headings, where upon clicking the heading the respective information is displayed in a defined area underneath the headings. This area is the same for each headings respective text, allowing me to place four times as much information on the page than if it was static. To be able to print all the page permutations all the buttons need to be printable.

You describe the difference between the layouts; SWF is dynamic, and you can show different texts in the same area. The printable version is static, and so you need a different layout. Frankly, I don't see how you plan to have both on the same page.
