Lisa, they don’t need special plug-ins; they just need to make sure they have the newest update of CS2 (check Help > Updates).

I’m a freelance designer working in CS3 but some of my clients haven’t upgraded yet. I know about saving the Indesign 3 file out in an INX file but some clients can’t open in their CS2. Do they need a certain plug-in to make this work?

Cathy, you would need three different paragraph styles in CS3 (one for each level of heading, and each with a different level of Auto Numbering) and make sure the Word doc also has those three styles. Then it should map properly.

Question: In this new version – when importing (or placing) a WORD document – it is possible for the word styles and Numbering to come into Indesign and placed into a indesign style? with NO problems? (ex. 1., 1.1, 1.1.1, 2., 2.1, 2.1.1) etc

DTPtools.com has been working on an MIF import filter for a while. I'm not sure of it's status. Marco Galliazzo will be presenting a session on "Framemaker/InDesign" at the June InDesign Conference. But ultimately, even though CS3 has a number of features that FM users are used to, it still does not have everything! For example, it has no real cross-reference features.

I use framemaker for long documents (multiple chapters with xref). I would love love love to be able to use one product – indesign. Any one here moved from framemaker to indesign? Anyone know if indesign cs3 can import framemaker files or .ps files?
