Here is one bug that I have: Mac version, Dutch:
New document dialog: try to do some math in the page-size dialog with mixed measurements, like

    ’20cm+10mm’ for size…

    InDesign crashes.
    Every time…

  • F vd Geest says:

    To explain somewhat more precise:

version is Mac, InDesign version includes this last one 7.03.
InDesign is the Dutch version. OS X is also Dutch (10.6 – 10.6.5).
    measurement is in mm standard.
    Choose File – New Document.
    For ‘Width’ type:
    20cm+10mm

This should result in 210 mm – but instead it crashes InDesign…

  • Eugene Tyson says:

Yeh that happens here too – I’ve seen others report this issue too.

  • Yes, it still crashes when trying any sum of numbers wuth different units on Document page size (US version on Windows 7-64bit)

  • Ah, that explains one of my crashes in front of a group of people today, as I was demonstrating how you can do math in all the dialog boxes and panels! Thanks…

  • Michael says:

I had a problem with the 7.0.3 update. After updating to 7.0.3 the Adobe Updater repeatedly prompts me to install 7.0.2 . I could not get the updater to recognize that I had updated to 7.0.3. In frustration I ran the 7.0.2 which errored. Even after the failed install the updater wanted to install 7.0.2 . I ran the analyzer which indicated there was no problem. Rebooting did not fix anything.

While I was researching the problem on the Adobe support page a live agent popped up a chat box. I decided to see if he/she could help me. Big mistake!

After 40 minutes of explaining and re-explaining the problem the tech agent finally told me that I had a “technical issue” and could not help. He/She then referred me to same support page that I was on when I was contacted by the agent. Maybe it’s me but Adobe support has really been going down hill with the outsourcing of their support center.

Here is the closing dialog of the non-support effort:
    ————————————–
“Albert Manohar: I checked with my resources and I infer that you are facing a technical issue, I’d like to help you however I am not technically equipped, what best I can do is, provide you with a link to find contact details to contact our Technical Support team for further assistance.”

i have the same problem, that a 7.02 update showed up after the 7.03 one.
but so far i have not installed the 7.02 and first checked here if this is allright.
doesn´t look so. so i will skip this update. (the 7.02 after the 7.03 one)

maybe it is a michael thing :-)

  • Michael says:

    btw.
this is on windows 7 64

  • mathias says:

I’ve got the same problem than Michael, on windows 7…

  • Hans says:

I have the same problem using vista ultimate 64bit

  • F vd Geest says:

And, more disappointing, the auto-hyperlink bug is still there (hyphen in hyperlink breaks in into two hyperlinks..)

    :-(

  • F vd Geest says:

By the way david: funny, as this was the same way I discovered the crash: in front of students!
    ;-)

  • Eugene Tyson says:

It won’t crash though if you use the Page tool though – interesting.

  • edsager says:

I have the same problem as Michael, Michael, et al., with ID wanting to install 7.0.2 after installing 7.0.3. And yes, the 7.0.2 installation failed.

I imagine this will be corrected very soon.

  • Bob Levine says:

Just a quick note on the list of fixes. That’s a cumulative list and includes the fixes in the last update as well.

  • Alan Gilbertson says:

Interesting about the 7.03/7.02 thing. On my laptop (a MacBook Pro running Win7 x64) that same weirdness happened (only once, though — it’s not bothered me since), but on my workstation, also running Win7 x64, it didn’t occur at all. Go figure.

The math thing is an annoyance. It only seems to bite when mixing unit types, as far as I can tell. If you add points to picas and points, pixels to pixels, inches to inches or mm to mm, there’s no problem. The control panel doesn’t seem to have any issues, though, because I use math there all the time and mix units merrily without a problem.

  • Alan Gilbertson says:

@David, I must say you handled that crash in the seminar with impressive aplomb (and the rest of them!). We used to practice “disaster recovery” back when I was studying Drama in college (last century, different continent!), for such times as: a doorbell is supposed to ring on cue in a scene, but doesn’t; or it isn’t supposed to ring for another two pages, but it suddenly does. Ah, such happy times…

  • @Alan: Thank you for the kind words. Yes, there sure were a lot of crashes that day. I think I finally figured out that it was the beta amazon Kindle plug-in/script combo that I had installed. But one must stay on one’s toes when one is demoing beta (and non-beta) software in front of a group.

  • I’m getting a persistent “installation failed” on 7.0.3, both through updater and manually on my Snow Leopard MacBook. Just me or is this affecting others?

  • marc says:

I have problems with indesign CS 5. after exit the program i get an eror message. never got in CS4

  • Norma Kass says:

I am opening CS4 documents with CS5, heavily used master pages. Now master pages not used are appearing under my content where there is no master page assigned in the CS4 document. …. WHYYYY??
