Comments on: InDesign Hiding Issue Fixed with Leopard 10.5.6

My issues with indesign and only indesign (CS3) began when i upgraded to 10.5.6. Now i have the following frustrating issues.
1. Export to pdf takes 8 minutes to start, but only 9 times out of 10.
2. Packaging has the same 8 minute delay

I am on a 24 inch imac rammed up etc.

Other imacs in the office do not have these problems and they are NOT upgraded to 10.5.6, but still on 10.5.5 with no problems at all.

I have an Apple wireless keyboard that works fine with 10.5.6. How did you do your upgrade? You might try downloading the 10.5.6 Combo Update. Sometimes downloading the larger combo update fixes problems unresolved with the smaller update file:

10.5.6 fixed that issue but now my Apple wireless keyboard doesn’t work any more! I actually wished I stuck with 10.5.5 which was near perfect buy you can’t use it with the new iLife and iWork.

Fingers crossed and in another 14 months Apple will fix all the Spaces problems too

Hurrah!

I would say that that eliminates almost the last reason for Mac InDesign users to upgrade to Leopard. (I think there are still a handful of people who are having printing problems, but I think that’s a very small number.)

I have Leopard installed on both of my production Macintoshes (one a MacBook Pro, one a G5 iMac), and I’ve found it to be an exceedingly stable operating system.

Wow… that took Apple/Adobe/whatever nondescript programmer it was long enough. We were just discussing how annoying this was just this morning while preparing for the A’dam IDUG meeting.

The part about not hiding was annoying, but the not coming back was a REAL pain.

Well, I’ll open up a beer to that one!

Actually, if you can stand the pain of a ~600mb download, I would recommend using the combo updaters when doing system updates. There’s generally less chance of weirdness creeping into the equation that way.

(I’ll let iTunes etc update via SW Updater; it’s only the system ones I try and do manually still.)
