InDesign Welcome Screen Finally Changes

A year or so ago, I mentioned that CS3’s Welcome Screen had a dynamic area that could change from time to time. Well, it recently changed for (as far as I know) the first time. Suddenly, Adobe felt compelled to put a little notice about CS3.3 and Acrobat 9 in the welcome screen. I think this kicked in about a month ago, but I’ve been too lazy to take a screen capture until now:

What’s intriguing about this to me is that Adobe finally woke up to realizing they had a direct communication channel to the users! That only took 15 months. But perhaps now that they’ve figured it out, they’ll use it more often?

I know a lot of people turn off the Welcome Screen, but I encourage you to leave it open to see what else comes down the pike from San Jose!

Interesting! Perhaps the Welcome screen is geographically aware, so it changed here in the states but not elsewhere? Can anyone else confirm/deny that?

Hello, David. I’m in Brazil and my welcome screen changed as well, about a month ago or something.
I agree that it’s been a neglected communication “media”, but maybe they’re just giving us a break from more spam (even if it’s a “good” spam anyway).
    Cheers.

Mine changed too, here in Ireland (Although I had it switched off and had to reset preferences, so I don’t know WHEN it changed.)

Yep. Changed here too in England. Don’t know when, but it did change.
