Another great Podcast.
Great. But where/when is the live podcast from Master Class?
Can I make a very very strong suggestion regarding backup. Most of the large files that many people have (well excluding huge InDy files) are pictures and videos.
I use an amazing service called phanfare. It’s a photo and video sharing service which uploads all the high res pix and video to a site so that your friends can see the pictures. It’s $55 a year and unlimited storage.
The whole beauty of this is that normally you want to show your friends and family your pictures, so the first thing you do after taking the pictures is quickly upload all your pictures to the web and voila you have backed up ALL your family pictures.
It’s free to try (you don’t have to give your credit card information) and it has really really good presentation options.
The only thing is that it’s hard to find their desktop app (it’s on the left bottom) and imho, it’s their strongest part of the whole experience particarly for those of us without 20Gbit symmetric connections
@Per: Yes, sorry about the delay on the conference podcast. We didn’t get the audio recording from that until just a day or two ago. It’s not as good a recording as usual, so we’re going to have to just take out a few select tidbits. I hope we can get those in our next episode.
Is anyone else having issues with Table Of Contents in CS4? The forced line break is now showing up in the TOC. Does anyone have a solution?
Great show!
The link you have on Microsoft’s site is to a Devanagari font. Devanagari uses features much more complicated than simple positional forms. A better link would be : http://www.microsoft.com/typography/otfntdev/arabicot/features.aspx which shows the Arabic features used which include positional forms.

Harbs, thanks for the better link. Still I think the one about Devanagari is a good one for font geeks who think they know everything to brush their brains against. Invigorating! LOL
Yeah. I’m one of those geeks myself! The business of glyph reordering in Devanagari can be very intimidating. Even Adobe couldn’t seem to get it straight before the World-ready Composer…
David, real sorry to hear about your laptop. It has such a huge impact, the effects will keep popping up for some time. It was good that you had a back up strategy.
I went through a period lately of waking up nights with all my client’s data gone. What a nightmare. This is what I did so I could sleep at night:
Bought another internal drive and use SuperDuper to back up the entire hard drive each night.
An external hard drive with TimeMachine (system and all) on it (LaCie and they give you a 1 yr free unlimited backup [$49 after that])
An external hard drive, also a TimeMachine (system and all), this I keep in my vehicle. This is my solution to a cheap “off site” storage.
I just bought the LaCie and haven’t got into the offsite storage but it sounds a lot like your method, all done in the back ground.
BTW, keep that (new) laptop out of sight.
