First of all… GO ADAM.
Second of all… that is a very conclusive and important subject to cover. And I thank you endlessly for talking about it and for taking on a topic that sort of had twisted thoughts in my head going on. It’s a lot clearer now.
Thirdly… Go Adam.
About the survey, I was going to fill it out, but some of the options I want just aren’t there. And when I get to submit I can’t do it because it’s not my true answers.
I hadn’t heard about the Zevrix Link Optimizer. That sounds brilliant. Because I do purchase stock images and place them at 24%. But I have to ask. Does Zevrix add an unsharp mask to the images when it resizes them? If not, then what’s the difference in InDesign doing the resampling and Zevrix?
And can Zevrix open up the file, unsharp it, change the file format from jpg to tiff and replace it in the layout? As I purchase stock images, I wouldn’t want Zevrix opening a jpg, resizing it and resaving as a jpg. I think that would be counter-productive.
But as you may note: I’m not all that bothered by image quality and sharpness and fuzziness. The people who recieve the magazine are not going to studying the images. So I feel safe in resizing in InDesign to 24%, using RGB images and not editing the files.
(Just to note: I do take more care with more important images and magazine work where the images are important)
But you know circumstances can change, especially in this climate. So just wondering.
Again, many thanks
David, you mentioned that the discount code for PeachPit Press would be included in the podcast notes. Is it like the “The transcript of this podcast will be posted soon” note and will appear “soon”, which means never?
Apart from that, I really enjoyed the episode.
@Furry: Sorry! The link to the Peachpit deal is here.
As for the transcripts… well yes, we are a couple months behind on that. We had some trouble with the transcription service. We should get more posted soon.
Eugene:
Re your questions about LinkOptimizer: Yes, yes, and I think so. Check it out.
AM
I added the 40% Peachpit discount to the show notes. Sorry about that…
Your comments about having some poor schmoe get stuck with resizing and reimporting scaled links in InDesign made me burst out laughing! Having in the past been that poor schmoe stuck with the resizing task, I can totally sympathize.
I also loved the advice on unsharp mask for images scaled more than 15%.
Hey David…
Good luck w/ that WEBINAR!!!
Lol.
