In the Obscure InDesign Feature of the Week, Anne-Marie mentions wishing that you could get a "Report" without packaging the document. Just Preflight, then click on the "Report…" button. There is no need to Package. I often do this when I have a really large file with tons of images. It is a great way to do a quick scan of what is going on with images.

@Furry: Oops! Sorry about that. I changed it to Instructions in the post above. I guess we were just typing too fast.

In your Obscure InDesign Feature of the Week listing at the top of this page, you indicate that the feature is “information” whereas the podcast actually talks about “instructions”.

You could confuse a stupid person (like me) into searching endlessly for “information” in the package dialog box and its consequent boxes! :-)

David, you are right that this will flag graphics & objects with ANY spot color. But you can do the opposite trick described in the original post, by using the ink manager to turn All spot to Process Except the One you want to search for.

JC, thanks, but I believe that only finds text or graphics with ANY spot color. It doesn't really help if you have 4 spot colors in a document, and you're trying to figure out where you used Pantone 114... or worse, if you have Pantone 114C and also 114M listed, you may wonder where each is used.

Here a trick available only in Cs4 to find/locate any object in Indesign that use a specific spot color.
- Create a Live Preflight Profile with ONLY the [Color > Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed > Spot Color] check.
- Use that profile, and bring the Preflight panel
- Now all error the panel will display is the indesign and placed assets using spot color. From the panel you can see a page number (in blue) that is a link you can click to go directly on that page.

But now... with Blatner Tool. We have a bunch more! ;-)
