InDexers
Need an indexer who knows InDesign? We call them “InDexers” and here’s a list of them. Note that InDesignSecrets does not specifically endorse or recommend these services. The list is arranged in order of response to a call for InDesign indexing services.
Update: Some of the contacts below are out of date… for most recent list of indexers, we suggest the American Society for Indexing.

Years of InDesign Experience: Since InDesign 1.0
Notes: I worked with Ole Kvern to develop indexing scripts that create ebook active indexes for versions of InDesign prior to CC. I also worked with Adobe to help get ebook indexes live and linked in CC, and have posts on my website about the style sheet needed to make the indents correct. I have a long history of working with single sourced projects, producing both print and e-formats from a single set of files. I also use Kerntiff Publishing index add-ons to make indexing in InDesign easier and more flexible.

Years of InDesign Experience: 4
Notes: My initial training in InDesign indexing was through an ASI workshop presented by Jan Wright and Fred Leise. I went on to complete InDesign indexes in the fields of medicine and computer software using the in program capabilities of InDesign 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0. I have not used the CC edition of InDesign nor the scripts just yet, but I have attended more than one ASI seminar explaining how to best use the various options currently available to produce linked indexes. I’ve also studied recommendations for adapting one’s indexing technique to best produce EPUB indexes. I feel I have a good background to move forward in this area and would welcome the opportunity to work with publishers to produce high-quality, useful indexes for EPUBs.
