How to Install InDesign CS6, CC, or CC 2014
The details of how Creative Cloud subscribers can install older versions of InDesign have been mentioned here before in other posts, but since the question comes up a lot (and Adobe is always tweaking things), I thought the topic should have its own post, which I will try to keep updated. Also, I’ve included instructions for uninstalling apps at the end of this post.
Installing Previous Versions of Creative Cloud Apps
Here is the current process for installing InDesign CS6, InDesign CC, or InDesign CC 2014 via the Creative Cloud app.
1. In the Creative Cloud app, click Apps.
2. Click Find Additional Apps.
3. On the right side, there is a blue filtering menu. By default, it says All Apps. Click it and then click View Previous Versions at the bottom of the list.
4. Click on the InDesign Install button. You’ll see a list of available versions.
5. Click the one you want. If you already have that version installed on your machine, you will get an alert telling you that your current copy of that version will be overwritten if you continue.
Uninstalling Creative Cloud Apps
Need to uninstall an app? Here’s how.
1. Find it in the CC app by clicking either Latest Version or Previous Version.
2. With your cursor over an app, a small gray gear icon appears. Click it.
3. In the Manage Application pop-up, Click Uninstall.
4. You’ll get a dialog box asking if you want to keep your preferences or trash them, as well as one last chance to cancel the uninstall operation. Choose No to keep your preferences. Choose Yes to remove preferences.
And if that doesn’t work–call Adobe and they can straighten it out.
We had two machines that we could not install a previous edition on. It just did not show up under “find previous versions.”
But a quick call, they did their magic. Logged out of the account, logged back in, and there it was.
I cannot install a purchased CD of CS6 on my HP Pavilion 23 which is running Windows 8. The CD calls for “Japanese CD” that we have no idea what this is. Even the tech people at our central office do not know how to install this version. Any help would be appreciated.
Sue: Not sure, but maybe you have the CJK (chinese, japanese, korean) version of InDesign instead of the English version?
It installed on windows 7 with no problems. Same install.
