Must-see Event: Scott Citron’s “Mastering the Image” Seminar

I was so happy to hear that InDesign expert and our friend, Scott Citron, is back in the mix, doing an all-day seminar, no less!

On Wednesday, November 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Scott will be at the Art Director’s Club in Manhattan presenting “Mastering the Image” for photographers and designers.

Here’s the description of the seminar from the event registration page:

Mastering the Image: Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and
InDesign for Photographers and Designers

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn from one of the top names in photography and design, graphic designer, photographer, and InDesign expert and author Scott Citron.

In Parts 1 and 2, Scott will demonstrate how to harness the power of Adobe’s dynamic duo, Lightroom and Photoshop, to bring your photos and images to the next level.

In Part 3, Scott will show how to create an attractive and interactive portfolio. With the help of a few basic design concepts and principles, in two hours Scott will show how easy it is to use Adobe InDesign to make your work look its best.

No photographer or designer can afford to miss this essential workshop, whose proceeds will benefit the New York chapter of the InDesign Users Group.

I asked Scott if there was anything else about the seminar he thought you should know about. He replied:

The first two-thirds of the class will be how to leverage the awesome and non-destructive power of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to bring out the emotional punch of your images. During this part we’ll also get a chance to showcase some of the amazing new features of Photoshop CS4 that make enhancing images easier than ever. In the final two hours we’ll see how to take these images and lay them out into a handsome portfolio using Adobe InDesign CS3 and CS4. Among the new features we’ll explore will be exporting your InDesign portfolio to SWF and using Acrobat Pro 9 to build PDF Portfolios.

You may recall that Scott was in a major car accident in Los Angeles back in July (on the way back from an InDesign training gig, can you believe it) and was in the hospital for many weeks. You can hear our “live from the hospital bed” interview we did with him in early August in podcast #84, and read about how the graphic design community rallied to support his recovery in this post.

Tickets for the seminar are $78, or $68 for students or members of the NYC InDesign User Group, which Scott leads. It’s telling, and a testament to his generosity, that the proceeds from the event will benefit the user group. What a guy!

If you’re in New York (or can get there) on Nov. 19th, don’t miss Mastering the Image. You can register for it at this EventBrite page.

That would be something I would be so interested in going to see. But alas, there’s a pond and it’s too close to the event date to even consider it.

Hopefully there’ll be vid highlights or a some sort of text about what’s discussed to buy or download?

I’ll get to a seminar over there yet! :)

Seriously, it sounds fantastic, and fair play to Scott, it’s great to see he’s back on the road (pun not intended).
