  • James Fritz says:

I read the sample chapter and I am very impressed. Even if you do not plan on taking the ACE test, this book will be useful to you because of the wonderful information Mike shares with us.

Hopefully we can see this series continued to the rest of the creative suite.

My only complaint is that after reading the ebook, too many people are going to get the ACE. Now it will too easy to pass with the help of the book!

  • Mike Rankin says:

Thanks Fritz! I am proud of the ebook, and think it will help a lot of folks become ACEs, but even I can’t guarantee they’ll get a perfect score, like some guy I once heard about…

  • LuisRM says:

I’ve been excited to study and take this test. It will be my new years resolution now thanks to this book. Great work!

  • Bob Levine says:

I just had a chance to look at the sample chapter and I too am very impressed.

Great work, Mike. This guide is going to be a terrific resource for anyone thinking of studying for the ACE exam or simply looking to improve their knowledge of the application.

  • Jennie says:

Mike, the sample chapter is excellent! I have no doubt that the rest of the book is also. I seem to have developed this itch to at least seriously consider the ACE Exam… ;-)

  • Mike Rankin says:

    Jennie & LuisRM-

Thanks! I did pour my heart and soul into that ebook so I really appreciate the comments. Kudos also go to Pariah, David, and Anne Marie for making it a reality.

  • Jennie says:

    Mike,
I wanted to give you a quick update…for the low, low price of $9.95 I am the proud owner of a copy of your pdf. Thanks for all your efforts!

  • Mike Rankin says:

    Jennie-

That’s awesome. I hope it’s the best ten “InDesign” bucks you ever spent.

    Happy reading!

  • Cinnamon says:

Congrats, Mike. I’m excited by the promise in your sample chapter and will hopefully have some time to read over the rest of the chapters in the upcoming months. It’s obvious that you brought your sense of fun and clear directions to this book, just like you do with all your writing.

  • Curt Pavia says:

Mike – I went through your sample…looked good…decided to forgo a few pints of fine NW microbrews – and just purchased your e-book. I look forward to being InLightened.

Wish me luck as I am going for the ACE exam in January!

Thanks to you, David, Anne-Marie, and all the rest of the InDesign Secrets contributors…you are awesome!

  • Kulraj Singh says:

I purchased the book and it is very good although you need to have a grasp of indesign beforehand. I scored good on the sample test (30), but not sure if I should spend 150 to take the actual test. Overall the book will help you in understanding topics you might not have covered otherwise.

  • KlausNordby says:

Mike, your sample chapter is great! If I can ever drag myself to go for another ACE exam again, I’ll be sure to buy your book. But you better make one for CS9 — for it could take a while before I want to subject myself to that torture again!

  • Mike Rankin says:

    Thanks Klaus-

I hope you give it a shot before CS9. This is a whole different ACE exam. The crazy trivia and trick questions are gone, replaced with fair, relevant ones.

Well, there is that odd one about David’s favorite brand of coffee… ;)

  • trope says:

Thanks for the ebook on InDesign ACE. I will probably take the test after the winter holidays as it is crazy around here. I will report back afterwards. And thanks for Anne Marie for tweeting the discount code-deals to be found today.

  • Howie says:

Thanks, Mike. I just purchased the book. It’s exactly what I need. I’m rather embarrassed to say I’ve taken and failed the exam twice–the last time by 1 percentage point. It’s certainly not from using InDesign enough–I just haven’t been brushing up on the right things. This looks like it can help give me the little extra push I need. Thanks again.

  • Mike Rankin says:

    Howie-

Thanks for giving the book a shot. I think it will serve you well. Let us know how it turns out!

  • Laurie says:

Scanned through your sample chapter. Mike if I ever need the Indesign knowledge again I would not hesitate to purchase your ebook. I knew you had great skills to teach, for I have experienced it first hand. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!

  • Tenzing says:

Do we have such books for Adobe Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4 etc

  • Kim says:

Will this book be updated for CS5 anytime soon? Thank you!

  • Yep, we’re putting the finishing touches on it now.

    AM

  • Kim says:

Thank you, Anne-Marie! Should I wait to buy the book, or buy it now and receive an update?

  • Kim, great question! I need to update that page in the Store.

Anyone who bought/buys the Guide to the CS4 ACE Exam ebook after the CS5 exam came out will receive a free copy of the CS5 ACE Exam guide ebook … we’ll send out a link to those purchasers when the new book is live.

  • JeremyC says:

I cannot purchase the CS4 guide. I realize CS5 has been out for a while but I have CS4 and am planning on taking the CS4 test. When I click on the link to purchase it it tells me it is no longer available.

  • Mike Rankin says:

    JeremyC-

Thanks for your interest in the ebook.

The way we’ve handled this situation is if you buy the CS5 guide and send me your receipt, I’ll send a link to download the CS4 ebook.

You can send your receipt to [email protected]
