About Us: Publishing Secrets co-founder Anne-Marie Concepción is the “doyenne of DesignGeek,” our training and consulting arm. She is a long-time Adobe Certified Independent trainer based in Chicago and offers training nationwide, on-site or over the Web via our Connect classroom. She and her associate trainers teach the print, interactive, and digital publishing applications that designers need to know.

Those who can, teach!

Anne-Marie, David Blatner, and our associate trainers are natural teachers—just ask any of our hundreds of design and publishing alumni. Our style is patient, relaxed, and informal, but always on-target and always with our signature sense of humor. We love what we do and it shows. Think how much you’ll learn from someone who’s not just an expert user, but an expert teacher!

With your new-found expertise, you’ll find your own creativity unleashed on every project you undertake from then on. Get stuck? Don’t worry, we include a full year of 24/7 follow-up support for every student.

We have been using this software and teaching others how to use it for years. Our trainers draw on their years of real-world experience to present instruction in ways that you as a designer or production staffer will immediately understand. You learn not just how to use the software, but how to use it in combination with other software, and how to make it all come together for your print, web, and eBook projects.

You’ll Learn By Doing

Our training sessions are a careful combination of talking, listening, seeing and doing. It’s the opposite of the all-too-typical “this button does this, this button does that” lecture type of training. Whether it’s hands-on-the-computer training, or lecture-and-demo, our gentle coaching and exercises are customized for your skill level and the kinds of projects you need to learn how to do (we can even use your own files!). That means more content is covered faster, and sticks with you longer, than is true with the usual, canned-presentation type of training.

You’ll Receive Unprecedented Follow-up Support

And you’re not left on your own when the session is over! You’ll receive a full year of follow-up support from Publishing Secrets, by phone or e-mail. That’s 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In other words, by hiring us to teach you the software, you’re gaining your own personal consultant at your beck and call for the next year! Think of the time and money you’ll save the next time a project is delayed because you or one of your staff members can’t figure out how to make the program do what you need… and tech support is closed or wants to charge you an arm and a leg to answer a simple question.

You Can Choose Where and When Your Training Takes Place

Most of our training is conducted at your site (at your workstations or in a conference room) in schedule-friendly half-day sessions for one to ten+ people. We can also train up to three students at a time at DesignGeek’s Chicago studio.

Or, get the training you need without leaving your desk: Book one or more sessions of live web-based training from Anne-Marie, David, or one of our associate trainers. It’s like a custom webinar just for you and your group combined with a conference call. Your group can see the instructor’s screen and she can see yours. All you need is a web browser and a phone and you’re good to go!
