This Week in InDesign Articles, Number 135
It’s a beautiful day, and I’m struggling with the desire to go out and enjoy it vs. learn more about InDesign. What should I do? Both, of course! Grab your mobile device, sit out on a blanket, and read (or watch) these links:
- Want to give someone read-only access to some assets, such as images, a library, or other files? If you’re a CC member, you can just use Send Link.
- Speaking of assets… this is an interesting article by Adobe’s Arno Gourdol which talks about the difference between assets and files, and how CreativeSync can help “save your assets.”
- Haven’t looked at Adobe Comp for the iPad? It’s a terrific companion to InDesign, which you can see here in this video.
- Kelly Vaughn is back with a look at how to make a checkerboard gingham pattern!
- You use bullets, right? (Everyone does!) So learn how to use them right.
- Considering going to the Frankfurt Book Fair? Even if you’re not, you should check out this 32-page magazine they produced with information about global publishing trends.
- Are your InDesign documents often translated into other languages? Fill out this short survey to help Redokun make their InDesign-related translation tool better.
- One of my favorite new features in InDesign CC 2015 is paragraph shading. You can learn more about it here.
- These famous sayings have been changed to reflect our design sensibilities. Very funny!
- Did you know Typekit has added a bunch of amazing fonts to their list for CC members? Wow.
- Did you know that Amazon.com “now sells more than a third of new print books, a level no single bookseller has ever reached before, and… has an estimated two-thirds of e-book sales.” Read the NY Times article here.
- I’m getting increasingly impressed with the new Publish Online feature in CC 2015… here’s a little tutorial from Monica at Tech4Pub.
- While TouchPress doesn’t appear to use InDesign (they have their own system for publishing iPad apps), I like Theodore Gray’s attitude and philosophy of envisioning what people will want rather than just giving them what they ask for.
- Ever curious about the Conditional Text feature in InDesign? Kelly Vaughn did a terrific 45 minute presentation about this awesome feature and great tips for using it, caught on video here! (Flash player required for playback.)
Enjoy!
Having the set of fonts from Dalton Maag almost justifies the cost of a subscription to CC by itself.
Hi David. Thank you for featuring our survey!
