Here’s a free (“pay with a tweet”) Proposal Template from Erick at StockInDesign.
While in most cases, I prefer to apply styles in Word, then maintain them (by having the same-named styles in InDesign). However, in some cases — like when dealing with multiple authors who have made a mess of their files — it’s best to just strip out all the paragraph styles and start from scratch. Here’s a good step-by-step that discusses this workflow.

If you do a lot of find/change, you should seriously consider saving them as queries so you can reuse them. Here’s how. And if you have a lot of queries, then you should use Multi Find/Change!

EPUB and Tablet

You know you want to learn to use DPS to make a tablet app, but you just need someone to show you how. Fortunately, Rufus Deuchler has done just that in this 22 minute video.

Want to use custom ornaments or special symbols in your EPUB files? You need this little Zapf Dingbats reference from Liz Castro. She has also created a new miniguide ($5) on how to create “read aloud” EPUB files for iBooks.
I played around with an early beta of FramedWeb from Rorohiko, and found it very exciting. Web-to-InDesign is the future!

And is the tweet and google counts working?

Eugene, yes, as far as I know the Google and Tweet things are working. They only increment when someone actually clicks on them and uses it to share from within the site; not when people manually go to Twitter or Google+ and share the link there. (If that’s why you’re asking.)

Well it’s showing up now. I clicked it earlier and it still read as “0”. There is 1 showing right now though. Seems to be ok in other posts. Perhaps just a delay because it’s Friday, or inconsistent weather can cause server delays.

@Eugene: Well, those times are correct, but Pacific Time. Anne-Marie is Central time (in Chicago) and I was up early checking in before my boys awoke.
