Weird situation I haven’t encountered before: I receive perfect art from the customer, apparently created in ID CS6 and exported to PDF for placement in our ID CS6 templates. Customer has included ALL printer marks in the PDF (which we don’t need, but that’s a non-issue). The issue is that because the printer marks aren’t visible once the PDF is placed into our template, the bleed is not visible, and we need to see the bleed. All we see, once we place the PDFs, is what the art will look like when trimmed, and we need to be able to show the customer the bleed with a trim overlay.

I have files, and I’m not afraid to post them, if someone can tell me what’s going on!! Thanks.

When you place the pdf did you check (show options) if “media” or artwork” is selected? The first one gives all the file, the other shows only the artwork, without the bleed.

I use the “Show Import Options” all the time when I place multi-page PDFs, but most of the time I leave it unchecked for everything else. This is perfect. I use this similar feature when I open multi-page PDFs in PS. Don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to use it in ID, too.

      Thanks, Gert!

I hate having the Show Options ticked

Instead I hold shift and then click ok and that’s a short cut to open the place options dialog.

Thanks, Eugene. I’d forgotten about this!
