Hi All. My first post. I’m working on a large NASA science proposal in InDesign CS6. There are many sections (Science Investigation, Science Implementation, Mission Implementation, etc.), including several appendices. I’m currently working on an appendix section containing the CVS (resumes). There are 40 or so CVs and I received them in the form of one long word doc, with one CV per page. There were several CVs missing at the time but their “places” within the structure of the doc (alphabetical) were “held” by pages with that were/are blank except for the Name/Header at the top of each respective page, which were followed by a hard page break. The initial import went ok, thanks to mapping, but the problem I’m having now, in InDesign, seems to that all the text frames (i.e. each one page CV) are threaded/linked together. When I try to import the remaining CVs individually as they come in, using place to drop each one in its proper location, I’m getting blowback from Indesign. Is this because of the hard page breaks? Is there a workaround by which I could either break the connection between the pages, or even insert pages in the proper location without it affecting the other pages? If I delete the placeholder Name heading at the top of the otherwise empty pages, the other pages don’t like it. Please advise!
Thank you!

Have you tried the SplitStory script that’s in the sample scrips provided in InDesign? If you havent, I would give it a try, it should break the thread link between text boxes. I personally use the StorySplitter_3.0 script by Adi Ravid but I cant seem to find a useful link to it. Well, I dont know what the rules are on here about posting other’s scripts for others to use. Anyway, if anyone has an issue with me posting this, let me know and Ill take it down, but here is a link to it.

Hello A.A. I did finally come across the SplitStory script and used it. Exactly the medicine I needed. Thanks for the nudge!

Perfectly fine to link to other scripts!
