Cannot open file “”. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.

Okay so let’s explain what’s happened here –

I’m using the latest version of Indesign (CC 2015) so there’s no chance that it’s due to an earlier version, basically my college work is all created in indesign, and stored on my external hard drive, last week i accidentally formatted my hard drive for a printer in college (stupid, i’m aware) and i didn’t have any back-ups of the files (even more stupid), luckily for me it was only a quick format so i managed to recover some files using EaseUS, and saved them onto my desktop, thinking i had escaped a disaster. I then went to open one of the recovered files in Indesign and it’s displaying the message Cannot open file “(File Name)”. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.

I’m aware the file is most likely damaged / corrupted but is there any way i can recover any of it, even just certain parts, maybe just the text used on the page? Or is there any way of fixing the file? Any help would be greatly appreciated as if i loose this file it’s a good few hours of my life i’m not getting back :'(
