Hi Everyone,
I work on a MacBook Pro with El Capitan as operating system, and pretty much without fail, when I open InDesign, a few minutes later the computer crashes. After it restarts, it will crash again and again, with intervals of varying lengths. When I work on an InDesign file for two hours, I experience roughly between three to five crashes. I don’t use any images though have quite a few links in each doc (somewhere between 12 to 17 links)
I recreated the InDesign Saved Data and Defaults file, I also downloaded the InDesign Icons fix and installed those, but neither of these has solved the problem. Has anyone got any idea of what might be the cause and how I could remedy it?
Thank you for your advice! -

That sounds horrible! Make sure you fully rebuild preferences:
Also, if you have installed any out-of-date plug-ins/add-ons, that might be the problem. (For example, if you run a CS6 plug-in in a version of CC… one of the most common problems has long been font management plug-ins, like those from Extensis).
It’s also possible, though less likely, that is is a corrupt font.
When you say you have links but no images, what kind of links? Are they links to text files or spreadsheets?

I actually use CS5 as 6 crashes even more. I just had 2 crashes within minutes from starting to work again after the computer was on stand by with CS5 still open. Prime crash time! The links are to text files, nothing big or extravagant. I haven’t added any extra plug-ins. Perhaps there is a setting somewhere that draws too much power or something but no idea what that might be.
Thanks for helping! -
