Greetings:
Here’s something that might be a cool subject for your Lynda.com InDesign Secrets. I found two rather cool effect for pull quotes while leafing through a well-designed catalog. One makes obvious use of a negative left indent and local formatting of each line — at least I’m guessing so– but the other I’m not too sure. Maybe one of you über experts can reverse engineer the technique and share?
The mystery pull quote effect makes use of what appears to be staggered indents (probably tab stops) for each line, text wrap, and tweeking of the text frame with the direct selection tool. That’s my best guess. Anyone else? Easier to explain visually, so I’ve attached a link to photos I took of the actual pages. The effect I’m referring to is on the right.

It might be several text frames, one for each line, adjusted horizontally for this effect with an added text wrap.
Fun idea! I would probably do this by changing the shape of the text frame either with the pen tool or the pencil tool. See these two articles for hints:
