      Hi there

I am creating outlines from letters in ID for characters to use in Indyfont. So the letters are at 1000pt and the text frames quite large. But when i create the outline from the letter, it disappears from the frame. When i make the frame much bigger it appears again but much lower, it has shifted and hasn’t remained in the same position. Technically it is not a problem, but in terms of my work flow it is a bit of a pain.

Can anybody suggest why this is happening, or a solution?

      Thank you kindly

I’m not sure why it’s getting bigger or positioning lower. It’s always been my experience that it will shift to the left. And that’s because the cut/shoulder of the font is removed when making an outline.

Hopefully someone will chime in with an explanation or solution, but I can’t think of any solutions so far as movement.

Thank you Dwayne, the cut shoulder thing totally makes sense.

The outline is not getting bigger, because it is shifting downward, i have to make the frame bigger to find it.

At least half of the problem is solved!

Thanks agin for your assistance, much appreciated! I hope that all is well with you.

Ok, some more ingredients, i just tried it with a different letter and after creating the outline it didn’t move left at all, it stayed in the same x position, but it still shifted down, but this time thankfully not so much that i had to pull the box open.

It has to be something to do with the cap height/x-height of the font and when it converts to outline. That’s the only thing I can think of.

Yup–things are fine with me. Thank you. Hope you are doing well.
