This is not a joke. The CC2015 spell-checker underlined “ping-pong” and out of curiosity I right-clicked to see what it thought was a better spelling. No hyphen? Capitalized? Hell no. Since I can’t embed an image, here’s a link to the hilarious list of suggestions, some of which are simply beyond the pale.

This does raise the question — is it possible to modify (i.e., repair) the spell-checker suggestions? In other contexts, there are some obviously incorrect spellings that are in the dictionary, resulting in significant errors not being caught.

LOL. That is… um… painful! Yes, I see that happens on the Mac, too. I do not know any way to edit the suggestions.

It looks to me as if someone (at Adobe? Hunspell?) accidentally merged a personal dictionary into the official one. I’ve run across several words that are obvious typos but are IN the dictionary. Although it is funny at times, it makes the dictionary somewhat useless. And I’m concerned that the dictionary may somehow be accumulating more of these from somewhere. It’s a pretty major QC issue for a dictionary vendor, too.
But I have to admit, “pineal-pong” and “Engine-pong” kinda made my day.

ha! that is hysterical.
I haven’t come across any “obvious typos” at all. Like what?

Now, of course, I wish I had written them down (so to speak). I’m definitely going to do that from now on, though. The most recent was a suggested alternative as obviously wrong as “reciept”, which kinda blew my mind. I don’t think that was the actual word, though.
Now I’m entangled in trying to resurrect a new ID doc which just started blowing up instantly whenever I touch the ToC frame or do anything related to ToC.
When I get a chance, I’ll see if I can find some. It’s one thing for the “suggestor” algorithm to come up with wild alternatives, but it’s another for misspelled words to be in the dictionary, since they’ll never show up unless you misspell something similar. Makes it tricky to search for them.
