If someone could point me in the correct direction for fixed layout education for Kindle books, I’d really appreciate it. I exported the same file as a .mobi and an epub and the difference is crazy. The Kindle file is just all messed up, not showing fonts properly, etc.
The epub needs some help, too, but its much better. Its biggest problem is that all of the Hebrew (this is a book in English to teach Hebrew) is backwards!

If it exports properly as an epub file, can that file then be taken and made into a .mobi?

      Thanks!!

Helicon Books is an Israeli ebook developer. They have a blog and a Twitter presence and could probably point you to some resources.

You might try taking your working ePub and running it through kindlegen (as opposed to using Amazon’s ID plugin, if that is what you are doing). KF8 does support Hebrew, but quite possibly their plugin does not, as they have not updated it for awhile (does not support CC or later). If I remember correctly, pre-KF8 mobi does not support RTL languages. So older Kindles (K2 and earlier) will just not work.

Moreover, it is easier to crack open the ePub and tweak a few things than to decompile mobi.
