Hi all,
I was using an older version of Indesign which had Rosewell STD in the fonts list, my newer version a 2014 release doesn’t have this installed for some reason.
I have tried to search free downloads online of this font type but not having any luck – I need to pay or subscribe to sites.
It’s really important that I get the same font as I am continuing working on documents from one year ago where I used Rosewell. Can anyone suggest where to download or suggest similar alternatives please?
Thanks so much! x

It is Roswell? They are several Roswell out there (all paid). Which one do you have? It doesn’t look they come with Indesign. May be you had it in another computer. If it is ITC Roswell it is classified as condensed. You can look up fonts similar to Roswell and you might find some alternatives.

Roswell (if this is the font you are looking for) is a commercial font by ITC.
The pack with three styles cost USD 87.
You will find fake Roswells on the internet. Here is one link:
https://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/ROSWELL.htm
But, as you will notice, this font has nothing to do with ITC’s design.
BTW, an excellent site for finding free fonts is this:

Hi both, thanks for the replies. My bad though…it’s actually Rosewood Std!
I made some wedding invitations using this font last year and now the bride wants me to create some artwork for their first year wedding anniversary (paper). I have since changed my computer and updated my Adobe cloud through work and the font is no longer available. Is this normal?

This font is available from Typekit. From the font menu if you click Add Fonts from Typekit, you’ll find it.

Is typekit only for online use ie. web page design?
Sorry I’m a bit of an amateur!

No. You can use it as a regular font. It is listed for web/desktop availability. The only limitation (if you want to call it that way) is if you want to package your file, the font won’t package (Typekit fonts won’t package). So, if you send your .indd file to another party, he/she would have to access the font via Typekit through their Creative Cloud subscription. Other than that, you use it as you would use any other font.

Rosewood Std is an Adobe commercial font. There are fakes on the Internet or maybe just renamed Adobe fonts. Nedless to say that using them is likely illegal.

That’s what I thought, Tom.
Shouldn’t it be on the installation disk or have been downloaded. I thought at one time that was the case.
I checked my system at home and work and I have nowhere on my system.

If you are not a Creative Cloud subscriber you’ll have to buy it from Adobe Typekit. Otherwise, you have access to it through your subscription.

IF you still have your original installation disks for the earlier version of InDesign or a Design Suite, the fonts are on it. Dig around for a folder called “Goodies”. Since you have a perpetual license for that product, you also have a license to use the fonts that were bundled with it.

Alan: That Goodies folder sounds familiar. Hopefully the OP has the earlier version and disk.

Every version had one, until the CC arrived. I’ve never done a clean, from-scratch install of CC, so I don’t know what, if any, fonts come standard other than Myriad and Minion.

I’m of the Creative Cloud era. So my first instinct was to refer you to Typekit where Rosewood is available to subscribers. But as other esteemed members have mentioned, Rosewood has been part of pre-Creative Cloud versions going back to CS3: https://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/fonts-installed-by-adobes-creative-suite. Now, I have Rosewood that was installed with CS6. So, I’m wondering why you didn’t get it when installing ID CC.

Alan, it might be that as of ID CC some fonts were provided via Adobe Typekit. That would explain why the OP didn’t get Rosewood. I wonder if installing CS6 (which is part of the Creative Cloud subscription) would install Rosewood?
