Anyone else find that selecting a graphic cell, after inserting a graphic, is even more difficult? If I click in an occupied graphic cell, the image is selected. If I hit Esc to select the cell, the entire table is selected. I’ve been going to an adjacent text cell, hitting Esc to select THAT cell, then using my arrow keys to navigate to the graphics cell. Am I missing something (totally possible)? If I try to resize the graphic frame to get to the cell, the cell changes size…even if I’ve set the frame to an exact size.

Just to be sure, you are using the final released version of ID, right? (Build 72) I know there were a bunch of bugs with this in prerelease (we’re not supposed to talk about prerelease in public, but… well, there were). The big difference between graphic cells and text cells in CC 2015 is that you need to use the Selection tool to click on images in graphic cells (vs. Type tool for text cells).

I have no problems currently with selecting the right thing at the right time with the right tool.

So, if you’ve already placed a graphic in a cell (forcing it to become a graphic cell), and you want to select the cell, to then get into the graphic cell options (maybe to change the cell inset), how are you selecting the cell?

I have the released version (not in the beta program anymore)…

Click the image with the Selection tool, then press Esc
That selects the cell. (Esc again to select the graphic frame again)

When I select the image with the Selection tool, then hit Esc, the entire table is selected…and I still can’t choose the graphic cell options from the Table menu. Strange.

      Erica,
      I suggest:
First, taking a walk or perhaps a bike ride. That will help InDesign cool down enough to work properly.
      Next, rebuild your preferences.
Finally, talk more kindly to InDesign. Consider bringing it a gift of flowers (or, in your case, a tumbleweed).

Let me know if that works.

Even if it doesn’t work, this just made my day. Officially packing up and going in search of a tumbleweed! Or maybe a baseball game…thanks, David!

So… did it work? And if so, which part worked? (The baseball game, the bike ride, or preferences?)
