Has anyone had an issue when they place an ai file in InDesign CC it is not all shown up in the InDesign preview. When the same ai files is placed in CS6 it looks perfect. I have resaved the art, copied it to a new file and saved it. Same results, no preview in CC and looks perfect in CS6. I really don’t want to stop using CC because of a few random pieces of art. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance!!

Check Import Options (in the place dialog box). Maybe something is set up wrong in there? Wrong bounding box, for example?

Tried that, same results. You mentioned in your email to try using a higher preview quality, it was on the highest already. I tried it on typical and then the art displayed correctly. I am not sure why this would be since it was not an overly complicated file but I will take it! Thanks for all of your help on this!!

It worked in Typical, but disappeared in High Quality? That is weird.
You might consider rebuilding your InDesign preferences (see Resources > InDesign FAQ in nav bar above if you don’t know how). If have seen situations where people have upgraded to CC and weird stuff happens, but which gets fixed on prefs rebuild. -

I just rebuilt my prefs and the art is still not previewing correctly.

Wow. Very strange. Not sure what could be going on there. Have you tried doing this on someone else’s computer with CC?

Yes, same results.

This sounds specific to these .ai files; assuming the other person doesn’t have this problem with all .ai files too. Have you tried creating a new .ai file and importing it? I don’t think we can help you much unless you post one of the files.

The other person has the exact same issues with the ai file not previewing in CC. Yes, I have tried a new ai file. I really wish it had worked. I would post the ai file on here but I am not sure how to do that.

I don’t know if this forum has a protocol, but setting up a DropBox account is common. https://www.dropbox.com/home
