My marketing team has been using InDesign and InCopy on our local network for a number of years with great success. Our firm has recently rolled out OneDrive as part of Office365 and we’ve been experimenting with it for remote workers. Of course we’ve been seeing things that we’ve never experienced before:

      1. The InDesign lock file doesn’t work meaning 2 people can open and edit the file. We’ve been able to manage this ok with good communication.
      2. The InCopy files are not showing as ‘checked out’ so this too can be edited by multiple people. The first time we tried InCopy on ONeDrive, it did seem that the ‘check out’ feature did work. Now it doesn’t. it also doesn’t show that the file is out of date, etc.

Obviously, the 2nd issue is really problematic. Are we missing something?

Does anyone have any experience working similarly with Dropbox or other cloud-based storage?

IC/ID works great in Dropbox, and in Google Drive too. So I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work in One Drive.

We have noticed enormous “hang ups” and severe long execution times using indd files on Onedrive. If I, for example, remove 200 pages in a indesign document stored on Onedrive, it takes Indesign maybe 5-10 minutes to execute the removal…

Can anyone confirm this? I can’t say with 100% accuracy that this is our issue, but it seems so.

      With kind regards,
      – Johan.

Interesting. I haven’t tried that yet. Thanks for keeping us up to date!
