Are there any scripts available out there for creating an index in InDesign CC based on paragraph styles? I have 1,000 page catalog and I need to create two indexes. One by product number and a second by keywords or descriptions. I’m hoping to keep one of those easy by being able to pull everything with the item number paragraph style. The second one is going to be intense no matter what. I’ll accept ideas for making that easier though.
Thanks.
You could just use the Table of Contents feature to make it; that uses paragraph styles. (You can alphabetize it in the TOC dialog box.)
Not sure if IndexMatic does paragraph styles, but it’s awesome:

I downloaded the trial. It says it is only supported up to CS5.5. I tried it out and did not get the results I needed. It pulled 3 numbers and I have no idea where the numbers came from. I’ll read through the documentation to see if I did something wrong, which is possible. I figured there has to be something that is current though.
I use IndexMatic with CC2015. My catalogs are 284 with 5,000-10,000 parts. The index keyword is part of the database I pull from. I put it into each listing in white at 2 pt with a character style applied so it’s not visible to the reader but IndexMatic can find it. Perhaps your paragraph style could carry a character style and then IndexMatic could find it?
