      Hi, I’m having a problem when converting my epub to Kindle (using Kindlegen) from InDesign CC 2014. I have the chapter head style hooked up to the document TOC style for export. In the CSS, I’ve inserted “padding-top:200px” instead of the “margin-top:” that InDesign creates for the space above the chapter head:

      margin-bottom:12px;
      margin-left:0;
      margin-right:0;
      padding-top:200px;

      The chapter head displays 200px below the top of the page if I access the book through the TOC, but, if I access the book by going through pages—cover, title page, etc., the chapter heads all display at the top of the page without the 200px padding.

      Does anyone know why this display issue is occurring in my Kindle file? I get the correct display of the header 200px down via the TOC, but it stays at the top if I just scroll through the pages.

      Thanks for your help.

      weird!

      Where/how are you proofing the MOBI file?

      Hi, Anne Marie,

      I’m looking at the file in Kindle Previewer after generating the mobi in Kindlegen, and on the desktop Kindle app. I also have sent the file to my own Kindle Fire. I’m working in InDesign CC 2014 and at home in InDesign CC 2015.

      It helped when I changed the chapter head top “margin” to top “padding.” But the chapter head is only pushed down on the page if I access the page via the sidebar TOC.

      Thanks for asking BTW! You haven’t seen this before?

      Ron
