Hey everyone,
There’s this thing that has been bugging me for a while. I know workarounds, but it’s time I learn the proper way of handling this.
I am currently laying out a report in Id CS5.5 and it’s nearly finished. The client wanted some updates in the text, so he send me links to google docs. References don’t copy over from google docs to Id, so I just saved it as a docx file, fine. Now here’s the thing, the new doc references start counting at 1 again, while it should be somewhere around 50 in the full body of text in the Id doc. When I paste in the text, the footnote order is disrupted.
I asked the client to rather give me an updated file of the original Word file, containing the whole story, with references intact. But in the meantime, I’d very much like to know what I can do to make the reference structure count in a logic manner after pasting in new content. I have tried footnote options/restart numbering as my best bet, but of no avail.
I should also note that I use a script to convert footnotes to endnotes.
