An iMac here at work with Mavericks and latest InDesign CC has the bad habit to limit the numbers of available undos to just 2 or 3.
We have identical machines with the same setup that not shows this behavior. Anyone that this has happened to? -

We found a solution.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 9.0/sv_SE/ (the last folder will be named different if you do not have a swedish indesign).
Trash the file InDesign SavedData. That worked for us.

I cannot find that folder. It’s not in my Library/Caches. Can you please help? (I’m using INDD Cloud 2014)

I guess you are in the wrong library folder. The tilde ~ in the path is to be replaced with your users home folder name. It’s the library folder in your home folder that you should look in.

Here’s the path to the folder you need.
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe InDesign/indesign-9.0/indesign-9.0_en_US.dat
Delete the .dat file and restart ID.
This solved my undo problem. Good Luck.

Unlike any other platform to use, at least this one has the ability to undo and revert changes the way you want, perfect to change any brand name or in description portion. This is good so far.

Why the need to spam us with that company.
And two thousand dollars for that power session.
I don’t think so.

I am using InDesign CS6 on Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan. For two days I was finding I had severely limited “Undo” history, and found this thread. I deleted the “InDesign SavedData” file in my user/LIbrary/Caches/Adobe InDesign/../../ location, and restarted. I was delighted to find an apparently restored capacity of Undos (tested about 2 dozen steps; before I’d been allowed only 4 or 5, or sometimes even fewer).
Thanks for the help, users!

Hi Aziz,
While I was searching for something, I realized you didn’t got a response on this:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\version\language\Caches\InDesign Recovery\Windows Vista or Windows 7:
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\version\language\Caches\InDesign Recovery\For more info:

hey guys,
i had this problem, followed instructions here and managed limited success, recently if discovered i’d accidentally activated thousands of fonts (which i’m guessing uses ram the program would otherwise have fee for undo’s and the like)
anyway tidied up my font issue and the undo’s went away too.
so in short, cut back active fonts.

Found this to work just now:
Launch the InDesign application from the applications folder (this will not work on a shortcut or the dock icon) while holding down SHIFT+CTRL+OPT+CMD
this will reset the preferences (it will how ever as said reset ALL preferences, so it’ll may take some work to get InDesign back to where you’re used to…)
