Ever since the latest upgrade of InDesign CC2014 (2014.2 Release / 10.2.0.69 Build) and the latest upgrade of Yosemite (10.10.3), I get the following warning for every InDesign document I open:

“Hyphenation breaks may change if you edit the text in this document.
The following hyphenation services are not installed on this system [list of dictionaries]“

I have not removed or moved or installed any dictionaries. Somehow between InDesign and the O/S they have lost track of dictionary locations. I haven’t been able to track down where InDesign is now looking for dictionaries; so I haven’t been able to move or reinstall them to get rid of this annoying warning.

I think the problem is related to the O/S, because if I open the same documents on another computer, running the same version of InDesign but on Mavericks, there are no warnings.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated!

That is fascinating and odd. However, I doubt that it is the OS. My guess is that InDesign is confused or lost something. Have you tried rebuilding your preferences in InDesign?

Well, I still don’t know how InDesign lost track of the dictionaries.

But good news: after the upgrade to CC2015, the problem and the error messages disappeared! Throughout the whole puzzling experience, I never installed or moved any dictionaries – and I didn’t get around to rebuilding my preferences as David suggested, either.

Sometimes Adobe moves in mysterious ways its wonders to perform . . .
