Hi. I have a book at the printer and have been advised that the bleeds are wrong and I need to fix them. The book went through InDesin pre-flight with no errors. I inherited this book and I am a considered a newbie to InDesign just because of lack of use of the software. I don’t know how to fix this and I either need help or a professional whom I can pay to fix this. What do you need to know to help me? Thanks.

Preflight won’t check for bleeds, unfortunately.
Here are some articles about it:

Robert,
Under File->Document Setup, choose .125 bleed. This will give you a red guide around the document so you can identify which elements need to be extended. In prepress, we just scan the perimeter of each page! -

Thank you for the replies. I have been out. I have found the bleed menu in document setup and added the bleed on top, outside and bottom. Got the red line you mentioned. So I think I have that done. Next up, my printer says that the file I call front matter which has the title page, copyright, and table of contents they say the headers are different indent from the chapters and the file does not “combine?” with the chapters in the book. I am not sure what that means. They say the 10 chapter files go into the book but the front matter does not. I am trying to figure out what I need to do on that. And that’s it. The it goes to print.
Thanks again. Bob
