Hi all,
I’ll explain the question through the following example:
I have an InDesign document with 500 pages or more.
Every ten pages I have 5 paragraphs need numbering as the following:
text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text text text
1. test.
2. test.
3. test.
4. test.
5. test.
text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text text text
1. test.

5. test.
text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text text text
1. test.
2. test.
3. test.
4. test.
5. test. The Numbering Style is the easy way to apply numbering for all these paragraphs.
The aim:
When I select the desired paragraphs IN ANY PAGE and apply the Numbering Style, these paragraphs will be numbered from 1 to 5 as the above example. The problem:
Applying Numbering Style will number the paragraphs as following:text text text text text text text text text text

1. test.
2. test.
3. test.

text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text text text text text text

How many style sheets have you written for them. Or are you just going to them and applying by hand.
I would have two style sheets set up. The first one (for the number one) called NL1 or something. In it, you tell it to start at #1.
The second style sheet (for the subsequent numbers) called NL2 or something. In it, you tell it to continue numbering from previous number.
So far as I know, you need two separate style sheets to do it.
Or if you are using style sheets, you will need to tell #1 to start a #1, and tell 2-4 to continue numbering from the previous number.
Does that help?

Thank you for your helpful explanation.
I was looking for a solution with ONE style, but it seems not available at this time.
Best Regards.

Hello Yala, I think I found something that will help you a little. Please go through the link below and check if it solves your problem:
https://creativebits.org/indesign/taking_advantage_of_indesign_s_next_style
Also try these:
https://blog.infiniteskills.com/2012/09/adobe-indesign-cs6-tutorial-next-style/There was also a similar kind of discussion on the Forum a few days ago:
I’ll suggest to use the Next Style feature using your Right mouse button on the First Style and applying it. for example:
“Apply stylename then Next style” -

Thank you very much Masood.
Yes, I found the solution is:
Creating Two paragraph styles, then: Apply stylename then Next style.
Best Regards.
