I am looking to add page numbering to a contract that has several pages and several paragraph styles.
On the master page I am type – insert special character – markers – current page numbers it its giving me as result of 1.1 before my page number – Ie on page 2 I see 1.1 2
Not sure why the 1.1 is there but can you help me get rid of it?
There is a dot between the 1.1
Have you read over the page number post here:

and there are some other posts here:

I am sure the answer is in there somewhere but I can’t find it – the page number is working fine but I get 1.1. (1 point 1 point) on every page prior to the page number itself.
The ‘A’ in the master page is editable but the 1.1 is not
If you open layout > numbering & section options, do you see anything in the Prefix field of that dialog box?
It is not checked
Hi David
Any other ideas for me?
Oh, maybe you have automatic paragraph numbering applied to the text paragraph? Select the page number on the master page and then look in the Control Panel (paragraph formatting mode) to see if it has auto-numbering turned on (next to bullets).
Thank you – the page number had a style assigned to it which I cleared by choosing ‘basic style’
