Hi all,
Trying to find a script that will take an InDesign document and save each page (or each spread) as an individual PDF file using a given PDF preset, preferably adding a suffix to the filename to denote the page number and basic attributes. For example:
InDesign file: 123_address_brochure.indd
Output files:
123_address_brochure_final_pg1.pdf
123_address_brochure_final_pg2.pdfOne of the print vendors I work with requires artwork to be split up into individual pages for receipt, so this would save a LOT of time.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven’t used this in a long time, but check it out: https://creativepro.com/page-exporter-utility-peu-5-script-updated-for-cs3.php

YES! Thank you David! Exactly what I was looking for. I could have sworn that utility existed, but could not locate it.

Hi – I have used PageExporterUtility for years; it works great. But, on a series of books I’m doing now, using InDesign CC 2014.2, it keeps telling me there is overset text on each page so I have to keep hitting the OK button to continue.
There is no overset text. If I export the PDF manually, I don’t get the warning.
I have version 5.0.1 of the javascript. Does anyone know of a later version – and/or, is there a way to disable that warning?
My guess is that since this warning is a new feature, the script was written before it was added to InDesign, and something needs to be turned on or off in the script to accommodate this new feature.

Hi Matt, I have 5.0.1 now that I downloaded it from David’s link. I don’t get that warning myself, and am also using CC. But for the projects I do, I don’t generally have text that flows from page to page. Maybe that has something do do with it.
Just curious what kind of preflighting you do? Are you absolutely sure that there’s not some wayward text box triggering the warning? Hopefully the link below helps:

Hi – good point, but believe me, I have extensive experience with preflighting. I have at least 4 ways of confirming that there are no overset text boxes:
1. My own eyes don’t see any overset text indicators
2. The preflight panel doesn’t find any overset text
3. I have the Quality Assurance plugin from DTP tools and it would find overset text if there was any
4. When I export to PDF from InDesign CC2014.2, and there IS overset text, I get a warning message. I am not getting that warning when I export manually.Furthermore, on the affected files, I get the overset warning on EVERY page. If there are 30 pages, I have to hit the OK button 30 times. Some files work, but most of them, for this particular set of textbooks that were originally done in CS2 or CS3, do come up with the error message when I use PageExporter Utility 5.0.1.
Furthermore, I’m pretty certain I used the same PageExporter script on the previous version of these files back when the files were built over 5 years ago . . . using whatever version of InDesign we had at that time. And, we did not get that message. It is a new “FEATURE” caused by the incompatibility with CC2014.2.
So, I’m hoping someone knows enough about javascript and InDesign to update it, or help me figure out how.

For what it’s worth, I’ve written an AppleScript that offers the following features:
• Export PDFs and/or JPEGs straight to the Indesign file folder or automatically to a sub folder with specific name.
• Exports individual pages. Each page is specifically named from one of the following options:
– Indesign filename & suffix-of-your-choice & page no.
– CSV or text file (names separated by returns).
– The content of a character style from each page.
– The content of a paragraph style from each page.
• It includes the option to combine the exported JPEG files into a single PDF meaning that you have a PDF that only contains flattened images.
• It can export the current document or all open documents. It’s a free download with no registration so if you want to hear about updates, leave a comment or your name through the contact form at drscripto.com

David Morgan, I will think fondly of you while I sip tea instead of separating pages in Acrobat and renaming them in NameChanger.
