I have designed a typeface with gradients which obviously cannot be supported with a font file. The typeface is based on an existing, type-able font which has exactly the same outlines, so the two typefaces will line up with each other perfectly. I’m looking for a solution to replace the typed text with vector objects from an object library. I imagine this can be done with scripting and I’m seeking some advice.

The workflow I imagine would be to type a word using the font file, then run a script. The script would outline the font and replace the solid letters with the rendered Illustrator letters, with exactly the same spacing.

Is this something that can be achieved with scripting. I’m looking for a technology partner to help me with this.

      Chris
