I am learning how to use InDesign CS6. I thought I had it nailed, but then ….
In the Document Preset, I have chosen Facing Pages and Primary Text Frame. This works fine.
The problem comes when I go into the Pages Panel and do the formatting.
When I create the page numbers and use (None) so a page number does not appear on the first page, it also removes the Primary Text Frame icon from the first page. It is there on the rest of pages and lets the text flow, but it is not on the first page nor does the text flow.
Please, please can someone tell me where I am going wrong. I am beside myself!
Thanks.
Carole
You’re almost there, Carole. However, I very rarely use None for a master page. It really is only for when you want a blank page. Instead, make a new master page “B” — probably based on “A” — and then remove the elements you don’t want (or add the ones you do). Then apply that to your first page.
Thank you, David. I will give it my best shot.
