      I’m formatting a book in InDesign CC 2014 with hundreds of footnotes. I have enabled the Rule Above (the separator line between the body text and the footnotes) with the weight of 0.25 pt. And I have selected Allow Split Footnotes, which is essential for the body text spacing in a book with this many footnotes. The problem is that when InDesign splits a footnote, the separator line above it on the second page has apparently forgotten my 0.25 settings and is much thicker, probably 1.0 pt. It’s so bold that it jumps off the page and looks horribly inconsistent.

      Does anyone know of any way that I can override this stupid glitch?

      The 100th effort at poking around for answers solved it! Turns out there are separate settings for “continued footnotes.” Why would anyone want an inconsistency in this?

      Type > Document Footnote Options… > Layout [tab] > Rule Above: [dropdown menu: second option] Continued Footnotes.

        I’m glad you got it figured out. I was typing up my reply but you already figured it out.

        I personally don’t think it’s a glitch. Maybe the thicker rule, but overall, I don’t think it’s a glitch.
