OK, I know this forum is specifically for InDesign but I am not aware of a similar forum for Illustrator and I use both together frequently, as I know many of you do. So I am sure someone can help me.
Recently, every time I open a new document in Illustrator, it has a red rectangle about 25mm out from the edge of the page. I cannot select this rectangle and I cannot find a reference to it anywhere in the Preferences. When I use Command-zero (fit to screen) IA fits the red rectangle to the screen, not the page within it.
Have I accidentally hit a key combination to cause this? How can I get rid of it?
What you’re seeing is the bleed edge (same as in InDesign). At some point, you set a bleed for an Illustrator document. The setting is sticky, so it will show up in every new doc you create until you set the bleed to 0 again.
Thank you, Alan. Such a simple solution but it was frustrating me enormously.
