      Hello!

As you can see in the link below, it’s very strange. I’m positive this happened when pressed a shortcut key by mistake, but for the life of me I can’t undo this. I’ve looked everywhere in the settings and the menus and can’t find anything…

      Preferences / Compsition / uncheck Custom Tracking/Kerning
      That should fix it!

THanks Caspian, but that option is already unchecked.

Noticed that when I open old files everything is ok, must be something affecting recent documents.

      Thanks David,

That was an interesting read. However my problem is strange because it happens to every text inside this document, regardless of font, characters or glyphs. I have unchecked every option in the preferences > Composition without any luck.

Two questions: Are those red lines along the left side of each column supposed to be there? Or are those part of the highlighting problem?
And, what happens if you choose some text and change the font? Does the highlighting go away? If so, then it could just be “the dreaded pinking” of a wrong font.

This is what I see when I export or when I’m in preview mode: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6sb08yf15glgjzt/86-ok.jpg?dl=0
and This is what I see when I’m in normal mode: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t4epcbs46uopijp/86.PNG?dl=0

No matter what font or language I use for typing, every text is highlighted. And as you tell by the green lines in the 2nd screenshot, the red boxes are not even an object! if I delete the text frame next to it, they’re removed as well.

Also, if I copy any text frame and paste it into a new document the problem goes away. It cannot be dreaded pinking.

That looks more like some external plug-in, such as something that shows changes (“black-lining” or “redlining” or “track changes”)
Another idea: Have you tried exporting the file as IDML and then opening that IDML file?

      1. Your styles are marked with a pink background. Almost everything is in the same style.
      2. Your paragraphs all have overrides, hence the red line in the margins.
      3. All of your text has overrides, hence the red line through the text.

You must have downloaded and used Marc Autret’s StyLighter: https://creativepro.com/style-highlighting.php

Run it again and uncheck the options to get rid of it. (Unrelated but: that’s a LOT of local overrides. You may want to look in to using styles properly…)

Wow, thanks Jongware, that was it.

To answer your question because we’re 2 people working on different parts of the document week in, week out my partner wanted to keep me away from his workflow so he installed the plugin to separate his “territory”. I guess that is the reason for having a lot of overrides… two cooks always spoil the broth!

Also, thanks everyone for their help!
