      Hi all,

I have just started a new job and the logo files have been designed using InDesign rather than Illustrator (something I have never seen before but apparently is possible!). Does anyone know of a way to get InDesign vectors into Illustrator so I can create a half-size outlined Illustrator pdf for sending to print? Any quick advice would be greatly appreciated!

      Best,
      Jenny

Have you tried place, trace and expand? Can’t believe a logo was done in InDesign. That’s unusual.

I mean, I’m sure you have tried that. Not sure why it wouldn’t work though

You could try adding the InDesign logos to a CC library and then placing in Illustrator from the CC library. Then embed the logos in Illustrator to work with them.

Havr you tried simply copying and pasting the InDesign vectors into Illustrator? That’s what I do.

You can also export a PDF and open the PDF in illustrator.

      Hi all,

Many thanks for the replies. I knew it wasn’t the done thing to design logos in InDesign, I got very nervous when I saw it and thought I was going to have to redraw it! Anyhow, I did try copy and paste but it didn’t paste all the elements of the logos across. Eventually I managed to work it out – File -> Export -> Save as EPS. Then I was able to open it in Illustrator with all vector elements and effects in tact. Thanks for all your advice – how dare InDesign allow you to produce vector illustrations when it’s a layout programme, lol!
