I’m working on a very long document which has a particular issue. It looks like some of the bold styles have “slipped” by a character, so that the first character following a bolded word is also showing up in bold. The same sometimes applies to italic text, or to the first character in a paragraph; sometimes the first character should be bold, and isn’t.
Any ideas for a GREP-powered fix, to make a character style apply across an entire word? Right now, I’m going through looking carefully and removing character styles where they shouldn’t be, but it’s not much fun and I’m sure I’ll miss one.
Not sure where the bug came in. The original doc was in OpenOffice, so maybe there, or maybe I made a mistake in my earlier search/replace.
Thanks in advance!
Can you post some screen shots of the problem?
I don’t think we can post screen shots directly, so… imagine the word “sticky”. Now imagine the “s” is bold and “ticky” isn’t, or vice versa. That’s the kind of thing I’ve had to deal with. I think it’s almost all been done manually now, but I’d still love to know how to fix it.
