I was not sure where to include this in te list of forums. But ultimately want to publish what I am working on as an EPUB so posting here.

I want to include a box into which the user can write handwritten text (presumably with a stylus but possibly with a finger). The particular use would be to recognize Arabic text but it could be any script that I am trying to recognize, using a handwriting recognition tool, still to be determined.

So the question is how should I set up the text box that allows for this type of input, can access a handwriting recongition tool, and then show some result from the handwriting recognition tool.

I have a graphic to share but can’t see where to include that here.

      hi Jake!

You can include a link to screen shots you host elsewhere, like dropbox, cloudapp, etc.

I don’t think any sort of ebook will work in this case. If your app can be created entirely in HTML5 and Javascript and bundled in the ebook, it’s possible, but not sure which ereaders would support that level of interactivity. They have trouble with animations that fly in from off off the page. ;-)

You may be looking at an app.

      I’d investigate ajarproductions.com plug-in In5, which straddles the InDesign > HTML5 publication > (optional) app quite nicely.

Thanks much Anne-Marie. I’ll definitely explore the ajarproductions.com option. I totally understand that this would not work on most ereaders so something like In5 makes more sense. Jake
