      Hi,

This is my first post. It’s quite an embarrassing question as i’ve got a feeling the answer is beyond obvious … but i’m going to ask away regardless. I enjoy learning about and using Indesign. I have created a high quality ‘print-ready pdf’ document comprising of 10 pages (printer spreads). I would like to print these on a desktop inkjet (not yet purchased), to a high standard – colour managed, etc.

The question i have is that i am not actually sure which software to use, or is best, to print the pdf from? Any results in google contain info only on how to create print-ready pdfs. Do i bring the pdf into Acrobat and print from this, or back into Indesign and then print it from here? I don’t want to bring it into Photoshop as i’m almost certain that will compress the pdf. I will also be using ICC profiles if that helps.

      I use Indesign/Photoshop CS3, Acrobat 8 Pro, and a basic imac.

Any infomation will be recieved gratefully,

      Will.

If the InDesign file is print ready, you don’t need a PDF to print, just print from InDesign.

Otherwise, print the PDF from Acrobat. If bleeds and crop marks are needed, make sure they are turned on.

I agree with Colleen, unless there is something we are missing/not understanding.

Thanks. If i can print straight from Indesign that would be great and may be all i need. Please let me know if you have any other tips or advice on how to do this efficiently.

      Will
